Same hard-coded list item in several line items
When the same list item is hard-coded in three or more SELECTs, hold it once in a settings line item and use LOOKUP everywhere.
What MaxCheck detects
The same [SELECT: List.Item] in 3 or more line items anywhere in the model. Time, Versions and technical lists (as in S_SELECT) are allowed.
Why it hurts
One list item is wired into many formulas. Renaming or replacing it means finding and editing every one of them.
Example
Taken from the rule's own test cases: formulas it must flag, and formulas it must not.
WarningFlags this(same item in three line items across modules, spelled differently)
Module 1
- WarningItem 1A[SELECT: Products.Widget]
- WarningItem 2B[SELECT: 'Products'.'Widget']
Module 2
- WarningItem 1C[select:products.widget]
Fine (two line items only, even with several uses)
Module 1
- Item 1A[SELECT: Products.Widget] + B[SELECT: Products.Widget]
- Item 2C[SELECT: Products.Widget]
How to fix
Hold the item once in a settings line item formatted as the list, and use LOOKUP: with it everywhere.
